9 am to 9:45 am is creative drawing and friendship building time: When art campers arrive, they sit with kids their own age and spend this time talking to each other while working on warming up their right brains sketching.
During the session, each child keeps a sketchbook, a unique visual diary meant to record spontaneous drawings, experiments with two-dimensional media and directed design 'games' which lead imaginations into the ideas at hand. The resultant artwork is distinctly and uniquely that of each artist.
9:45 am-12 pm: the beginning of formal mixed media lesson. Cynthia shows students how to use the days chosen medium.
12 pm: Pick up for Half Day Campers.
12pm to 12:30pm: is lunch time. Each day during lunch time, kids socialize while they enjoy their sack lunches as a group at the greenhouse, on the deck or in the studio yard.
12:30 pm to 1:30 pm: Playground time. Accompanied by the instructor, campers walk two blocks to Victor Jones Park and play on the swings, slide and jungle gym.
1:30 pm to 3 pm: the continuation of formal art lesson.
REFUND POLICY: if your child cannot attend art camp after payment is made, you can apply their tuition fee towards any class at Cynthia Horn Art Studio. You must use your tuition credit within 1 year of art camp purchase.

STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO: 8 to 1
Art teaches children that there are many ways to see and interpret the world. Each week-long mixed-media intensive is designed to teach students to think through and within a material. We instruct art campers in a loving, humorous and supportive manner on how to develop creative and technical art skills in drawing, painting, ceramics and fiber art. Historical and contemporary artists and their working methods are naturally woven into each project.
For example, the general theme of "Faces" might lead to ceramic masks being made in Clay Day Monday; Friday is always glazing day. A series of surprising characters would be pulled off of the printing press on Tuesday. Self-portraits in various watercolor media or with acrylics on canvas could make their appearance on Thursday. Wednesday, fiber day, includes highly anticipated tie-dye accompanied by silk painting, papermaking, paper marbling, or the like.
